James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Over the last year, Kim and I have been blessed with two granddaughters. Watching our granddaughters grow and interacting with them has been a real joy for us but we also have enjoyed watching our own kids become parents. Seeing them interact with their precious little girls has been fun to watch.
When it was nap time, I remember watching my kids place their baby on their chest and gently sway them to sleep. It seemed like only a minute and our precious granddaughters were fast asleep.
This image came to mind when I read this verse. Our heavenly father wants us to come near – to press in. Like my granddaughters when they are cradled in their mother’s arms and as they lay on their chest, they hear the heartbeat of their mother; they feels secure, safe, content, and soon fall asleep.
Today there is a lot of “stuff” happening in this world. We can either be overwhelmed by it all OR we can draw near to God and find peace.
I choose to press in.
