Psalm 40:4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
In the Bible, “happy” is another word for “blessed”. In fact, many Bible translations do use the word “happy”. “HAPPY is the one who TRUSTS in the Lord…” But what does this really mean?
When you trust God it is not like trusting a person. Trusting God is putting your complete trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding;” The trust you place in God must be your complete trust and with all your heart. It means that no matter the circumstances – no matter what it looks like – you trust God. Completely.
When you have a complete and active reliance (trust) on God you will have a “blessed / happy” life. God’s Word says so – this verse says so. Sometimes your life may not seem blessed / happy at the time but there will come a day when you look back and see how God truly did bless you.
Remember, the trust you place in God must be your complete trust and will all your heart.
