Matthew 13:45-46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
I have a gold watch that my grandfather left to my dad, who left it for me before he passed away. It means a lot to me. It’s a “treasure” and it’s very valuable to me. And should it ever get stolen and end up in a pawn shop, I would not sell everything I own just to buy it back. Oh, I definitely would pay a lot, but I would not sell everything I own to get it back.
The watch is valuable but the Kingdom of Heaven is worth so much more; it’s invaluable, it’s priceless. It is something that you would sacrifice everything you have just to possess and be a part of.
So what makes the Kingdom of Heaven so valuable?
It’s time for you to become that man, that merchant, who sold everything to get that buried treasure and that one priceless pearl. Devote some of your “precious time” and discover and understand what the Kingdom of Heaven is. Make time to dive in and study what Jesus said and taught about the Kingdom of Heaven and why it is so valuable.
