GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR WORK

Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

I remember when I was just starting out in my career that I had one boss who made my life difficult. Day in and day out it seemed he really wanted to make my life miserable. It made coming to work a challenge…I dreaded it and I was stressed out all of the time.

One day during my devotions, I read theses verses, Colossians 3:23-24 and I distinctly remember the Lord saying “Ron, it’s me that you are working for and not Dave.” WHAT!? It hit me hard, I was convicted. I no longer looked at my work as a J-O-B but a place where I could serve. My focus changed from working for Dave to working for the Lord.

Yes, it made a big difference for me. My attitude and my work life changed that day. Throughout my career and from the various positions that I have held, I always knew who my “true boss” was and who I was serving.

  1. I re-read this verse every morning as I travel to work. I remind myself throughout my day (especially the frustrating moments) of Who’s my Boss and before I know it I get a second win and know I can get through my day!
