JEHOVAH NISSI STILL TODAY

Exodus 17:15 Moses built an altar and called it ‘The Lord is my Banner’.

Jehovah Nissi is the Hebrew word for “The Lord Is My Banner”. Moses built an alter after the Israelites defeated the Amalekites in a day-long battle. The alter was to serve as a reminder that it was God who defeated the Amalekites and protected the Israelites. For generations this alter would serve as a place of remembrance of victory, celebration, and thanks.

Although we don’t fight physical battles like the Israelites of old, we do fight spiritual battles today. Battles to control our thoughts, our time, our families, our finances, our country, our churches. These are daily spiritual battles that we face. Unfortunately, so many people try to “fight” these spiritual battles on their own, without God. The result is broken families, debt, government for itself rather than for the people, and dead powerless churches.

We are in a spiritual battle. As Moses and the Israelites trusted God, we too must trust and rely on God to help us fight these spiritual battles. As believers, we are the Lord’s and we will be victorious. Believe it!

God is my Jehovah Nissi. He Is My Banner Still Today.
