Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
When I was in High School I was told that I dressed “Preppy”. “Preppy” was a conservative look; khaki pants, polo or button down shirt, penny loafers / boat shoes. Sometime I wore a sweater over my shoulders or even a casual suit jacket. I had no idea. Then one day I saw a book called the “The Official Preppy Handbook”. Sure enough, I could see why people identified me as a “Preppy” because I dressed like one.
Today, there are so many different clothing styles; casual, formal, sporty, hippie, street, vintage, biker, grunge, minimalist, retro, etc. To a casual observer they may identify you as a “biker” because you like wearing black jeans or leather pants, black t-shirt, leather jacket and boots. Or they may identify you as a “hippie” because you like wearing bell bottoms, tie-dye, and fringe.
As a Christian, a follower of Jesus, how can we be identified? To say it another way, how do people know that we are a Christian?
As Christians, our “look” should be one of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Our lives should reflect Jesus.
So when people look at you what do they see?
